Look What The Wind Blew In
When tourism minister Fergus Ewing opened the new step-on-step-off pontoon at the Loch Fyne village of Strachur, local boat owners were delighted and the government agencies that funded it hoped it would attract some visiting yachts and cruisers as large as 15 metres.
Wildlife
A Dog Otter was recently spotted breakfasting at the end the pontoon! There will be a £10 reward for the first decent photograph, but you will need to get out of bed before 5am.
Great Cruising Grounds in Sheltered Loch Fyne
Upper Loch Fyne offers stunning scenery and sheltered cruising grounds. There are convenient places to moor overnight and varied restaurants, bars and cafes.
Strachur Bay
SBMA offers overnight moorings and a short stay pontoon facility adjacent to the A886. This provides a convenient loading facility and pickup point.
Wildlife Abounds
Otters, Sea Eagles, Basking Sharks, Dolphins, Porpoises, Red Deer and Roe Deer can all be seen in or around Upper Loch Fyne. Sea angling is popular with catches including Cod, Haddock and Flounder.
